Interventions of National emergency response program to the escalated humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip “Together For Palestine”

As of the immense increase in the number of displaced people in the southern Gaza Strip, our team provides in cooperation with our partners, temporary well established shelters for IDPs, including all necessary services such as toilets, hygiene, and potable water for daily use.

Through T4P, we contribute to supporting food security for displaced citizens who face significant risks of malnutrition and famine by distributing food aid, fresh vegetable parcels, and hot meals.

Led by the SDF’s youth network, we conduct initial psychosocial support interventions targeting displaced children and teenagers in various segments of the Gaza Strip. These interventions have been implemented within and outside displacement centers as part of the emergency intervention strategy to support children and adolescents in alleviating stress, enhancing resilience, and improving strategies to cope with the complex conditions they have been enduring since the beginning of the aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Providing a set of personal hygiene supplies to displaced people in shelters. This is crucial for maintaining public health and reducing the spread of diseases, given the decline in public services provided to families. Special consideration is given to the specific needs of marginalized groups, such as persons with disabilities, the elderly, postpartum women, and newborns.

Through systematic efforts and curriculums, led by specialists and teachers, SDF implements non-formal educational and recreational activities and learning sessions targeting youth, children, and adolescents who have been deprived of their right to education. This intervention takes place in SDF’s Safe Learning Spaces (SLSs), established in displacement centers all over the Gaza Strip, in partnership with our local and international partners.

Emergency response teams plan and implement specific humanitarian initiatives based on daily monitoring of the needs of displaced individuals in various areas, within and outside displacement centers. For instance, providing essential living needs such as clothing items and shelter needs; mattresses, blankets, baby formula, special needs for the elderly and persons with disabilities, non-food items, and cooking utensils. This part of the program is a flexible component for organized and customized humanitarian response, adapting swiftly to the pressing needs identified in different displacement centers.

The T4P team coordinates with active peer humanitarian stakeholders to direct and refer IDPs to service providers and focal points. This process is implemented through direct field cooperation and coordination with our partners at humanitarian and relief organizations operating in the Gaza Strip. Our emergency task force links, coordinates, and directs women and persons with disabilities with specialized entities providing specific services, such as assistive devices, healthcare services, and accessibility devices.
