Anas Al-Hindi: We live in a family atmosphere in the T4P camp
Standing at the designated washing area inside the “Together For Palestine” camp, Anas was assisting his wife in washing their dishes, through the facility provided by the the Social Development Forum in partnership with the Welfare Association.
Anas Al-Hindi was displaced from Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. Initially, he stayed in a camp in Rafah, living in agricultural sheds under extreme heat and harsh conditions. Although living in tents is never ideal, he finds his new shelter in Deir al-Balah much better.
Reflecting two months since he arrived in the T4P camp, Anas says, “I lived for three months in a camp in Rafah, but I have never seen services like the ones here, whether in terms of security or other useful relief services.”
Anas praises the provision of drinking and daily-use water in the camp and highlights the reliable energy and electricity, which allow him to charge his phone continuously without any costs. Previously, Anas used to spend $1 daily to charge his and his wife’s phones.
“Security, safety, and timely followup,” Anas points out the efforts paid by the Social Developmental Forum (SDF), noting the role of the youth administration and security office through devoting two personnel who constantly oversee the residents and respond to their needs.
I appreciate the respectful and family atmosphere I receive when I communicate with the SDF’s youth administration, who constantly monitor and address our needs.
Anas says
Adding: “People here live like a big family, in a pleasant atmosphere, dealing with each other openly and respectfully. We cook together, sit together, and make daily gatherings.”
Anas mentions that the water issue is pressing all over the Gaza Strip. However, “the SDF has proven its efficiency in providing water and paying great efforts to ensure it never runs out.”
The SDF’s team, along with the youth network, has distributed many essential items to the displaced residents in the T4P camp, including water containers. Anas notes that these containers have greatly helped the camp residents, as families used to fill water in bottles, which was insufficient. With the distribution of these containers, providing water for all family members has become much more convenient.
It is worth noting that the T4P camp provides shelter for 50 displaced families (400 individuals) from various areas across the Gaza Strip. The SDF established this camp in partnership with the Welfare Association to provide shelter to families who had nowhere to go, after the Israeli invasion of Rafah.
